The Dining Experience
Philosophy
We believe that fresh, wholesome foods with
great flavor are vital to promoting health and an enjoyable dining
experience. At Broomall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, our Food
Service Department is committed to providing high quality, nutritious
meals with excellent service. We aim to keep each of our diners at
their highest practical level of independence, maintaining their
dignity and self-esteem. To accomplish this goal we offer a choice of
entrees at each meal in a variety of lovely dining atmospheres.
Dining Environment
Our Food Service Department recognizes the
importance of creating a pleasant atmosphere in all of our dining areas
and understands that an attractive, social environment at mealtimes
directly impacts the health and quality of life for our diners. We
offer restaurant style waiter/waitress table service in our main dining
area as well as a choice of at least three entrees. In our Main dining
area, a pianist plays a selection of songs on our baby grand to
stimulate appetites and get toes tapping.
The Fare
Our menu is a four week seasonal plan that
changes several times each year for winter, spring, summer and fall.
Our chefs also prepare “special meals”, including a monthly “Meal of
Choice” created by our Resident Food Committee, monthly buffet-style
breakfast brunches (including a Mother’s Day Tea) and monthly theme
meals that are often centered on ethnic favorites. In addition to our
regularly scheduled special meals, the Food Service Department takes
pride in serving traditional holiday fare with all the trimmings.
Cook-outs are also a regular occurrence in our beautiful courtyard
during the warmer months. Because we know food is best enjoyed when it
is shared with family and friends, loved ones may join for a nominal
fee. Holidays are a great opportunity for residents to dine with their
loved ones, including our Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Make your
reservations early; these events are very popular with everyone.
Food Safety and Special Diets
Within a few days after admission to the
facility, each resident is visited by a Registered Dietitian or
Dietitian Technician who will ensure his or her diet meets their health
needs. New residents will also be visited by one of our Food Service
Managers who completes an individual diet history detailing food
preferences. Family members are encouraged to participate in this
process so we can ensure that our residents are offered foods that they
will find to be both safe and enjoyable. Our entire Food Service Team
receives on-going education in food safety. All Food Service staff are
ServeSafe Certified. The menus are created and reviewed by Registered
Dietitians.
The Nutrition and Food Services Team is
eager to speak with you personally to address any questions you might
have on an individual basis. They look forward to serving you.
